There
is a list a mile long of MC's coming
out of the South Bronx, but none
have the combined charisma, high-voltage
lyricism, and a knack for story-telling
quite like JUSTUS League member
Chaundon. Growing up in the South
Bronx and constantly being surrounded
by hiphop, Chaundon began writing
rhymes at the age of 13 during his
classes at Stevenson High School,
where he'd eventually get his first
taste of 'stardom' rapping in front
of other students in the schools'
cafeteria and crowded hallways.
Hooked
on being the center of attention
and realizing that music was his
calling, Chaundon soon gained a
reputation for his lyrical prowess…a
reputation that’s followed
him wherever he’s gone since.
Graduating high school and going
to college at NC Central University,
it wasn't long before he forced
his way into the bubbling North
Carolina hiphop scene. From performing
on campus, getting on stage at every
local club he could find, and freestyling
on radio stations such as Power
98(WPEG) and K-97(WQOK), his name
soon became highly recognized all
over North Carolina.

Becoming
a part of the local up-and-coming crew
“The Justus League” only helped
the buzz around Chaundon grow louder.
In 2001 Chaundon completed his first album,
“White Label,” which was produced
by Ninth Wonder (Little Brother, Jay Z),
Big Dho, Son of Yorel, Eccentric, and
Khrysis. By recently leaking his internet
singles “Bet Dat,” a hard hitting,
high velocity track over which Chaundon
urges listeners to ‘put their money
on him in any situation,’ and “Pay
me,” where he lets loose a lyrical
barrage on any and everybody out there
who owes him money, demanding what’s
due to him no matter what their circumstance…Chaundon
has widened his fan base enormously. Without
any financial backing or promotion, word
of mouth has been the vehicle to Chaundon's
current success. His second release, Slow
Leaks, a mixtape he put together in March
2003, received a great deal of press and
further stretched his following across
the globe.
Chaundon
is a versatile artist with a strong and
expressive voice. He is also a remarkable
entertainer, making him a favorite among
the hip hop community. He is constantly
in motion, running through audiences and
passing his energy and emotion on to them
wherever he performs. In all, his combination
of lyrical prowess and high energy stage
presence make Chaundon The Back Twista
one of the industry’s premier artists
to watch.
